Am I crazy for wanting to move from Boca Raton, FL to northern Ca?

I live in Boca Raton, FL. The weather (If you like the heat) and the shopping is great, but I’m soooo tired of being around old people. Even if I move out of Boca, and into Miami there’s still too many retirees. I could move to South Beach, but I don’t think that’s for me. I want to be in a place that’s more youthful and has more of an “all american” vibe. I can’t find any place in all of Florida that has what I want. Every place I look at has either too many retirees or is totally redneck area. I want to be with young, educated professionals in a hip cool city. Northern Cali seems awesome. It has everything I want. know it’s expensive, but I have a job that allows me to live wherever I want and I don’t have to live right in San Fran. I could live in a suburb such as Walnut Creek. What should I do?

Being from Nor Cal I highly recommend the move. I think you will love it here. Just like you said we have everything you want. Just travel a few hours in any direction and you can have any atmosphere weather lifestyle you want.
