Am I crazy for wanting to move from Boca Raton, FL to northern Ca?

I live in Boca Raton, FL. The weather (If you like the heat) and the shopping is great, but I’m soooo tired of being around old people. Even if I move out of Boca, and into Miami there’s still too many retirees. I could move to South Beach, but I don’t think that’s for me. I want to be in a place that’s more youthful and has more of an “all american” vibe. I can’t find any place in all of Florida that has what I want. Every place I look at has either too many retirees or is totally redneck area. I want to be with young, educated professionals in a hip cool city. Northern Cali seems awesome. It has everything I want. know it’s expensive, but I have a job that allows me to live wherever I want and I don’t have to live right in San Fran. I could live in a suburb such as Walnut Creek. What should I do?

Being from Nor Cal I highly recommend the move. I think you will love it here. Just like you said we have everything you want. Just travel a few hours in any direction and you can have any atmosphere weather lifestyle you want.

Miami Nightlife Attractions

Can anyone who has visited or lived in southwest Florida tell me about some great…?

…attractions, restaurants, bars, etc.?
We are spending Christmas and New Year’s in Fort Myers, Sarasota and Tampa. I know that the beaches are beautiful, but what else is there? I am trying to make it an exciting and fun trip for everyone, including my younger sister, who thinks we have to go to Miami for nightlife. If you have any suggestions, books, websites, etc. I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

Oddly enough my parents live in Ft. Myers, so hopefully I will have some info for you.
Lets start with Ft. Myers: Estero Blvd is great. It is a long strip of restaurants and bars along the beach. There are many hotels there as well. Ft. Myers beach is a must! Very pretty!
Sarasota: Of course Siesta Key!!! It is one of the whitest beaches in America. It feels like you are walking on powdered sugar! They have snorkeling and parasailing if you like that. Also check out the La Barge. It is a small cruise that takes you on a tour of the bay. Very beautiful! They have food, drinks and live music on the boat. Right next to Siesta Key is an area the locals call The Village. There are some great pubs,shopping and restaurants there, right off the beach. Also, if you are into shopping, try St. Armands on Lido Key. Lido Key is another beach/island in Sarasota and is also very beautiful. St. Armands, which is located on Lido Key, is full on restaurants, shopping, dancing, art, etc, etc.
And last but certainly, not least:
Tampa: Check out Ybor City. It is one of the oldest, most historical parts of Tampa. It is a beautiful area. (I know, I live there!) It is a mile long strip of bars, shopping, clubs, restaurants, art, and many more things! There is something to do for everyone in Ybor City! And of course, you must check out Bush Gardens while you are in Tampa. It is a wonderful amusement park!!!

This NEWS is just coming in: Can it be related to kidnapped little girl in?

Portugal? I’ve had to rewrite question because although I picked NEWS & EVENTS, it was placed by Yahoo on Arts & Humanities, books etc.!!!

When I first began reading I thought this Miami Beach case involved Al-queda because of the name Allan Sharif and because of the insatiable hunger for money this man seems to have. But when I read PORTUGAL, the little girl Madeline, came to mind.

Does anyone else think there could be a connection between these men and the girl? If you do, please let your local authorities in your COUNTRY know about this. It could turn out to be a tip or clue which could help in the search.

I agree with Aggylu, and also, if there were any connection, don’t you think the police would have had an inkling to that fact already? No offense or anything, but I just can’t fathom that if your theory were relevant to Madeline’s case, that the authorities wouldn’t have figured out that connection already.
